Calling all strays!

Why do they come here? Did someone tell them that this was a good place for room and board? He's cute and sweet, but we need to find his home. Sugar likes him!

Don't Forget the Lyrics!

Have you seen this show? I love it! John Allen says my head is full of useless knowledge, and he may be right (partly). I can't remember where I put my car keys, and I was always terrible at studying for tests, but play a song for me and I'll remember the words forever!

I think this came from doing way too much "ridin'" and singing in the car on Friday and Saturday nights since there was nothing else to do in my hometown. Beth (who we said had to have been a jukebox in a past life) and I would choose parts and practice singing the songs over and over until we knew them by heart (this took a while since we had to wait for the tape to rewind). We even had hand motions that I still do when I hear certain songs. I know, too much information.

Jessica's inspiration for the hair doodle

Jessica's last post reminded me of something that I had seen before! --John Allen

My turn

Leah tagged me a long time ago, and I put this off. Since blogs seem to let friends (and probably some who aren't friends) in on some of the most interesting parts of our lives, I decided that I might as well enlighten you some more. Promise not to hold anything you read or see from this point on against me.

1. I used to own a worry rock. Yes, I believed that it really worked, so I would rub it whenever something worried me, which was frequently (this was a long, long time ago). I've learned that praying is so much more efficient.

2. I didn't learn to swim until I was nine years old. I'm a chicken. I asked Jesus in my heart long before then but put off the baptism until I could swim. (Note to those who get sprinkled, etc.: you don't have to swim through the baptistry.)

3. I had a bad perm. Really bad. See below.

4. I played basketball at the YMCA in the sixth grade. Shot at the wrong goal twice and made it both times. I couldn't figure out why no one was going for the rebound. Also, all of this was done while sporting the above mentioned hairdo.

5. Sang a solo at church (while in college). Forgot the words and actually said "blupblablurpbalblurp" into the microphone, laughed, set it down and left the stage mid song. Thanks, Matt. I blame you for this one.

6. I let a strange man into the house while Matt and I were home alone. I was only in the third grade. I thought that it was okay because he showed me his driver's license.

7. I had a Ritz Cracker sweater in the ninth grade. I wore it to the Valentine's Dance. What was I thinking? Everyone wants to dance with a giant box of crackers? Those of you who went to school with me saw it many more times. Oh, the white tapered-leg jeans make it so much finer!

8. During rush at MSU, I wore the top to my cute outfit backwards all day. When I realized it, I discovered the darts meant for the front of the outfit were on my shoulder blades.

9. Used to think the star on the map denoting the state capitol was my house.

10. Was very irritated that we never got to see the inside of Oscar the Grouch's garbage can. How did he fit those elephants in there?

Hope you enjoyed it! I tag Beth and Jennifer H.

Don't put pens in the dryer!

I'm usually pretty good about checking pockets before I load the washing machine. This time I guess I was in a hurry and didn't do it. There was a pen in John Allen's shirt pocket. It made it through the wash but not not the dryer! This is what a dryer looks like when a pen explodes.

Big mess! Of course, the clothes were ruined, but luckily they were things I didn't mind throwing away or donating to the "rag" box. John Allen found some clean-up solutions on the internet and I tried a few before coming up with my own.
1. Heat up the dryer, then use Clorox Clean-up - didn't work at all
2. Heat up the dryer, and use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (that erases anyting) - didn't work at all
3. Orange Glo floor cleaner - didn't try it
4. Kaboom - didn't try it
5. Heat up the dryer and use the liquid Comet that I already had in the cabinet - worked a little
After much scrubbing and suffocating with my head in a hot dryer with fumes, it is still spotted with blue ink, but better.

Never too old for Disney!

We went to DisneyWorld on spring break with John Allen's sister and her husband, Paula and Wem. This was their Christmas gift to us. Wow! What a gift! We had the best time being kids again (not much different than we act at home). I didn't get many autographs; the five-year-olds kept cutting in line :)

As soon as we arrived, John Allen was in trouble. Is this what I get just for being his wife?

Animal Kingdom - John Allen was trying to make it look like he was holding up the tree. I thought he was giving me bunny ears.

Ready for take off on Big Thunder Mountain!

Lost the guys. . .look where we found them. Monkeying around!

Paula and Wem pointing to their permanent pictures with the kids on the wall at Epcot.

Thanks Paula and Wem!

Stark-Vegas, Here We Come!

John Allen was accepted into veterinary school! We are very excited and relieved!
