Back to School!

After a seeminly short but busy summer, it is finally time for everyone to go back to school! I started school last week and John Allen officially starts tomorrow. After one last trip to the beach the weekend before I had to start school, we accepted the inevitable and got in gear. I worked hard to get my classroom ready (with John Allen's help) and the student's first day was Thursday. I am teaching 6th grade gifted (PEAK) this year and I can't get over how sweet and intelligent my students are! This is something I haven't had experience with yet :). The vet school had the coating ceremony Thursday afternoon, a team building/rope course Friday, and a cookout Saturday. The cookout was a the pavillion in our "neighborhood" and all we had to do was walk across the street. Very convenient! I am very proud of John Allen and he's excited to get started.

We had a great time in Destin with Wes and Jamie Crawley and two of their friends from Jackson.
Note: Before sunburn. See below. On the way home, we stopped to tour the USS Alabama. If you've never seen it and are interested in that type of history, you should go! It is so interesting. My only suggestion would be to wait until milder weather! A big hunk of steel gets really hot in 99 degree weather! There isn't any air conditioning in that thing!

John Allen got into the action!

Please notice that the color of my face is matching the color of the floor. I was a little irresponsible with the sunscreen.

This is the top of my classroom door and pics of the inside. Not much to see.

After the coating ceremony. Congratulations, future Dr. Ferguson. I'm so proud of you!

John Allen is testing out his chair at his desk in the lab. He'll be spending a lot of time there!

The cookout was really nice, and all of his classmates are great! I enjoyed meeting them. We have met so many nice people since we moved here! What a blessing! God has really taken care of us at every turn of this "adventure". I am so thankful we put it in His hands!

Hi!

I just stumbled across your blog. My husband, Brian Hicks, is a veterinarian in Philadelphia, MS. I will keep you and your husband in my prayers. We have two children and it is sometimes tough. The hours can be long, but he loves it! We have a house full and kids and animals, and it is so much fun! I look forward to keeping up with y'all through your blog.
