Goodbye, Love!

No, I'm not leaving John Allen! We're packed up and headed to Starkville! I'm getting ready to unplug the computer and take it to its new home! It is all bittersweet; we're excited to get to Starkville to start life there, but sad to leave what we have know as home since we married. We've been living in the house that John Allen's dad grew up in, which is located in Love, Miss. The post office knows it as Hernando, but years ago, Love was its own small community and had its own post office! The neatest thing about it is that Love is where my grandmother was born and where my great grandmother grew up! I had heard her speak of Love and always wondered where in the world it was. Little did I know that I would marry a man who grew up in Love as well! It has been a neat experience to live in a home and a little town that has so much history for both of our families.

I am a bit old fashioned, sentimental, and nostalgic (and maybe a little weird) and I love to imagine what their lives were like all those years ago. I like to imagine them hearing the same summer sounds that I hear now, I look at the fields that are still being farmed and some that aren't and wonder which one of those was once farmed by my great-grandfather, when I see the little old church that they attended, I imagine my grandmother as a little girl in her Sunday best, I marvel at the way they endured the heat and humidity with no air-conditioning, and think of my great-grandfather as he worked his mule-pulled road grater to help build the stretch of Highway 51 that runs right past our house. It is amazing what God has in each chapter of our lives.

I can honestly say that when we sold our house in Southaven to move here while John Allen prepared to go to vet school, I wasn't insanely excited about living in an older home with all of the critters, but we have been blessed imensely. John Allen has gardened, hunted, played for hours with Sugar in the pond, replayed fond memories of days with his grandfather, recalled moments in each room of this old house, and spent time working with his dad.

Goodbye, Love, we will miss you!

I don't have my camera right now, but I will be posting pics of the move as soon as we're set up in Starkville!

Also, we had a great 4th of July weekend with the Abrahams! Chris and Carrie brought their three precious daughters and it was a blast! I'll post pics later (when Harvey send them to me)!
