Remember when . .

Remember when Slip 'n Slides were fun? Well . . for some of us they still are! Paula's kids (Will is almost 5 and James is 1 1/2) were at John Allen's parent's house for several days and John Allen had been eyeing this Slip 'n Slide at WalMart. When we took Will in to get some whiffle balls, John Allen showed him the Slip 'n Slide. The conversation went like this - "Look, Will, doesn't this look like fun?"

"No," said Will.

"But look at that shark's mouth! You can slide through it!" encouraged John Allen.

"I don't like that shark's mouth. Let's get this one," Will said pointing to a more plain Slip 'n Slide.

Not satisfied with his answer, John Allen said, "Well, we're getting this one." We left the store with the shark mouth slide!

Needless to say, no one but John Allen and Sugar would slide on it. It was pretty cool - the mouth opens and closes and you have to slide down while the mouth was open. The funniest part was that everytime John Allen slid down, Sugar went with him! It was so cute! I didn't even attempt it! I remember all of the bruised and scratched elbows and knees I had from those things, not to mention that I'm sure it would have been a real sight!

Remember when 80 was old? Okay, it's still kindof old, but now I realize that life isn't over at 80! We went to Dr. Purvis's 80th birthday party last weekend. He is still a practicing large animal vet in this area! John Allen has had the privilege of spending a great deal of time with him (working and fishing) and has learned a lot from him! He is such a neat person! Obviously, he went to vet school at Auburn! We had a nice time, and Dr. Purvis said, "The only thing about 80th birthdays is that you don't have enough of them!" Awesome! I hope I'm still as spry when I'm 80!

Even though he's in the back ground I can tell how proud Harvey's son makes him!
