I have enjoyed reading the blogs of friends so much that I decided to jump on the blog bandwagon! I hope that this is a fun way for family and friends to share in our lives (which is ever-changing and unpredictable!).
As most of you know, John Allen is a full-time student again, taking pre-recs in order to apply to vet school in the fall. We are both excited that he is following his heart! Along with this change came a move. We moved into the house in which John Allen's dad grew up in Love, Mississippi (Hernando). This also happens to be where my grandmother was born! Cool!
What I didn't realize is that when we moved we must have traveled through a time-warp. I often awake on Saturdays to the moo's of cows, we've had an opossum on our carport, I can "holler" from the back door for John Allen to come to dinner, I am constantly on the lookout for snakes, and John Allen has planted a garden! He prefers to be referred to as "Farmer Ferguson." I wasn't aware that this garden would produce so many vegetables! I had to put on my apron and start cannin'! Pickled squash, squash casserole, squished squash, blanched squash, frozen squash, grilled squash . . .I've been busy in the kitchen! Soon we will have okra, corn, watermelon, tomatos, beans, and peanuts. Did I mention the cucumbers and peppers? Here are some pictures of the garden.

Three tractors is an awfully good start for your first farm. Nice farmer's haircut too.

I am enjoying keeping up with the Fergusons! I have visited several times. This is a nice way for your extended family to keep up with you.

I'm IMPRESSED! Nice garden. Love the dog, too. Maybe John Allen's getting a little too familiar with the cow, though! Was good to see you today!
